NORTHERN SCHOLARSHIPS

The application for Northern Scholarships is offered each year for current and prospective students to help cover the cost of their college education. Northern considers a variety of factors in determining scholarship awards, including campus and community involvement, major, and personal experiences. Please check your northern email for the application opening date and closing deadlines.

NORTHERN BRIDGE Scholarship

Bridge Scholarship Application
You are eligible if you are a New Mexico resident, and you have graduated from a New Mexico public high school, or an accredited New Mexico private high school within 16 months with a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or better upon graduation, or you have received a NM HSE/GED within 16 months. Citizenship status does not affect eligibility for this scholarship. Students must:

  • Enroll in 15 credits at Northern for the Spring semester.
  • Have declared a major and have been accepted into a degree or certificate program.
  • Have provided the Financial Aid Office with a final copy of your high school or HSE/GED transcript.
  • Complete, or have on file with the Financial Aid Office, a current year FAFSA form or Student Aid Report.
  • Financial information on FAFSA does not affect eligibility for this scholarship.
Teacher Preparation Affordability Scholarship

Northern New Mexico College Students:
The Teacher Education department at Northern New Mexico College has received funding for the Teacher Preparation Affordability Program Scholarship for the Academic 2024-25 year.
To be eligible for the scholarship you must meet the following criteria:
  1. Complete and submit a 2024-25 FASFA application. This completed application must be on file with the Financial Aid Office to be considered for the scholarship. Even if you don't think you will qualify for federal aid, the FASFA application must be on file with the Financial Aid Office. For help filling out the FAFSA application, please contact the Financial Aid office at finaid@nnmc.edu or 505-747-2128; or the Educational Opportunity Center at eoc@nnm.edu or 505-695-4026.
  2. You must be a Teacher Education student in good standing and making progress towards program completion.
  3. You must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours.
Please complete and submit this short application. All applications for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters will be considered on a case by case basis as funding allows.
LANL Foundation Scholarships

The LANL Foundation awards two scholarships of interest to Northern students. One application enables you to be considered for over 30 scholarship opportunities. For more information, go to the LANL Foundation.

  • Four-Year Undergraduate scholarships for high school seniors and current undergraduate students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in any field of study.
  • Career Pathways Scholarships for high school students and adult learners with a high school diploma or GED/High School Equivalency (HSE). who have a specific career in mind and are committed to earning an associate’s degree or certification in any field or trade.  Awards range from $1,000 up to $20,000 for students from Northern New Mexico pursuing undergraduate degrees in any field of study. 
AMP STEM Scholarship

SCHOLARSHIP FOR CURRENT & TRANSFER STEM STUDENTS

Are you pursuing a STEM degree at Northern? You could be eligible for $1,000 per semester for research through the National Science Foundation's Alliance for Minority Participation (AMP) scholarship. To learn more contact: Dr. David Torres, davytorres@nnmc.edu, 505-747-2174

To be eligible, students must:

  1. Declare their major to be a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math).
  2. Have a minimum GPA of 2.8.
  3. Be enrolled full-time at NNMC.
  4. Be a minority (Hispanic, Native American, Black, ...).
  5. Be a U.S. citizen or possess status as a national, refugee alien, or permanent resident alien.
  6. Identify a faculty mentor willing to oversee research.
  7. Scholarships are also available for minority transfer students from community colleges majoring in STEM degrees.
  8. Transfer students do not have to have a research project to be eligible for the scholarship.
